Administrative Meeting – 10th November

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

The November administrative meeting will be on the second Monday of the month at the usual time and place:

The meeting is open to everyone. The meeting normally lasts about an hour and we migrate to a nearby pub for drinks after, so it’s a good opportunity to meet up with people and have a chat.

You can find the minutes of October’s meeting on the FSF Groups wiki. The agenda will be published closer to the time of the meeting.

Openmoko and stuff – 28th October

Saturday, October 18th, 2008

On Tuesday 28th October some of our members, Michael, Tim and Enrico, will be giving a talk and demonstration of the new Neo FreeRunner from Openmoko. All three members are keen users and advocates of the phone and are looking forward to showing that it can not only make phone calls but can do a lot more besides. The phone was released on 25th June 2008 and uses only free software. Their talk will cover the phone itself, the OS and the various toolkits and applications available for it.

There should still be time for some lightning talks afterwards. Simon will be giving a short presentation about the results of the Open Street Map Manchester Mapping Party. If anyone else wants to give a short talk as well they are more than welcome.

The meeting will take place at 19:00 in the Manchester Digital Development Agency on Portland Street. More about the meetings and venue can be found on our meetings page.

If you’re coming, feel free to add yourself to the FSF Groups wiki page. If you would like five minutes to tell us about something, please add yourself to the wiki or contact us.
